Wat Mahapruttharam (วัดมหาพฤฒาราม)

Wat Mahapruttharam
Wat Mahapruttharam, วัดมหาพฤฒาราม, is a royal monastery under royal patronage. It was called Wat Tha-Kwian (Cart Harbor) in earlier times, and later named Wat Takien (the name of the miracle tree) during the Ayutthaya period more than 300 years ago.

In 1852 A.D. or 2395 B.E, the monastery was reconstructed by the royal order of King Mongkut (Rama IV) and designated the royal monastery with the name Wat Mahapruttharam in honor of the first senior lord abbot whose name was given to him by the king: Phramaha Pruttacharya. This temple was 150 years old in 2002.
